People called her Nellie. Raised on a tideland farm near Astoria, OR. I was the only one of her children to go to war. When I went to the airfield to ship out to SE Asia, Mom was afraid; couldn’t even come to the gate to see me off; sent my father to do that. I think she was praying so hard, she was speechless.
