“Cousin Mona” was my grandfather’s cousin. She never married and lived surrounded by Irish maids, English gardeners, a Jamaican chauffeur and overstuffed relatives. She always spoke her mind and spoiled her Western cousins: she took us to the Pink Beach Club for dinner and sent us praying mantis eggs from her garden for Christmas.
