Blanket Stories: Transportation Object, Generous Ones, Trek

A sculpture commissioned for the Haub Family Galleries at the Tacoma Art Museum

In 1918, this blanket was hand-sewn and quilted to celebrate the birth of my mother Molly Jo (Duncan) Finnigan. It was created by her paternal grandmother. My mother used it throughout her life as her “napping” blanket. I can still picture mom on the couch wrapped in her blanket taking her after lunch nap.
